Opposition lawmakers from the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) have written to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, raising concerns over what they describe as a lack of cooperation from government ministers.

In a letter signed by 12 MDP Members of Parliament, they claimed that ministers are obstructing their constitutional duties by failing to respond to parliamentary questions and requests for accountability. The MPs said they had repeatedly submitted written and oral questions to ministers, but many remain unanswered.

The MPs reminded the President that the Constitution gives him the authority to appoint and dismiss ministers and to take action against those who hinder the work of Parliament.

They urged President Muizzu to ensure that ministers respect the Constitution and cooperate fully with the legislative process. The letter also noted that some ministers have failed to appear in Parliament recently, often citing various excuses.
