The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the contract to develop a new harbour in B. Kendhoo, fulfilling a pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to the island in March last year.
The harbour development project, which includes extensive dredging and infrastructure work, has been entrusted to MTCC. The agreement was signed while President Muizzu is currently visiting the atoll.
MTCC CEO Ahmed Saudhee signed the agreement on behalf of the company, while Housing Minister Dr. Abdulla Muhthalib signed on behalf of the government.
According to the Ministry of Housing, the project will involve the dredging of 112,016 square meters, along with the development of 278 meters of road canal,10 mooring points, 971 meters of revetment, 62 meters of footpath, and 29 meters of canal footpath.

The project, valued at MVR 119.3 million, is scheduled to be completed within 450 days, the ministry said.
During his visit, President Muizzu also inaugurated the island’s new water and sewerage services, as well as BML ATM services in Kendhoo.
