President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the government will provide teacher training and support to address the shortage of teachers at Baa atoll Fehendhoo School.

During his visit to the atoll, President Muizzu emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, particularly in underserved islands.

“The aim is to increase interest in this and find teachers to be established in the island. If we cannot find teachers, we are ready to provide teacher training to provide the necessary education for students,” President Muizzu said.

"God willing the work will begin on the island this year."

Currently, Fehendhoo School is operated under B. Goidhoo School and relies on satellite-based teaching. The school has only three teachers for 26 students, highlighting the urgent need for local teaching staff.

President Muizzu also acknowledged that the shortage of teachers is a nationwide issue, especially in smaller, less-populated islands, where attracting and retaining teachers has proven difficult.
