Island Aviation to develop Dharavandhoo Airport

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced yesterday that development of the B. Dharavandhoo Domestic Airport is to be handed over to Island Aviation Service (IAS).

Speaking to residents of Dharavandhoo last night, President Muizzu said that although Dharavandhoo Airport is the most successful domestic airport in the country, not much effort has been made to improve the airport since it was brought into operation.

He said that under his pledge to advance airports across the country, Dharavandhoo Airport, too, will be further developed.

He announced that a decision has been made to deliberate with the company that invested in Dharavandhoo Airport and transfer the airport under Island Aviation, which will develop the airport as per government requirements and operate it.

Dharanvandhoo Domestic Airport was brought into operation thirteen years ago, in 2012. The airport was developed by Coastline Hotels and Resorts. Even at present, the airport is operated by Island Aviation.
