A man who was earlier arrested for the crime of impersonating an Immigration Officer has once again been arrested, this time on accusation of stealing three chocolates.

Mohamed Naveen (G. Beruge, 44), was arrested last year in September due to him and multiple other people posing as Immigration Officers and entering the premises of an expatriate household, with him stealing MVR 9,000 and a mobile phone from a Bangladeshi.

He had been released but has been arrested once again, this time on the accusation that he had stolen chocolates, with him receiving 15 days of remand in custody.

As per the Criminal Court’s statement yesterday, he had taken the chocolates without paying, saying that he would return upon getting the money from someone right outside the shop.

Naveen has a previous record of theft, with previous records of jail time as well.
