State honor presented to Utheemu Adambe

The Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty (ODRDD) was awarded to former Island Chief of Haa Alif. Utheemu, Adam Abdul Rahman (Utheemu Adambe) today.

Adam (Utheemu, Alimasge) received the honor at the National Day celebration held in Utheemu this morning.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu awarded Adam with the Shield and Badge of the state honor, along with a formal letter.

The President's Office stated that President Muizzu decided to award the ODRDD to Adam and the Honour for Distinguished Service "upon the esteemed people of Utheemu, in recognition of their enduring contribution to the preservation of national heritage." The office also said that the award was given in recognition of his services to the people and the state, along with his efforts in the field of Dhivehi language and literature.

Adam has offered his services to the state for more than 42 years.

He had served as Island Chief for more than 15 years, and as an assistant to the Atoll Governor. He went on to serve as Haa Atoll's Atoll Chief for over 11 years across three separate terms. 

He also received the National Award for Public Service in 2004 due to his contributions to Dhivehi literature. He was also awarded the National Award of Honor in the field of Dhivehi Language and Literature in 2016.

Adam also played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for the Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Centre, built during the early days of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's administration.
