Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has been tasked with constructing a building at HDh. Hanimaadhoo School.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu began his visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll yesterday. While at Hanimaadhoo, he signed the agreement for the construction of the building during his meeting with the island residents.
On the side of the Education Ministry, the agreement was signed by State Minister Hussain Saeed, with Deputy Managing Director Ibrahim Razzan signing on behalf of the FDC.
While addressing the residents, President Muizzu stated that the building was being constructed to accommodate children from Hirimaradhoo. The building is set to have 8 classrooms, a science lab and all other required facilities, as per the President.

Due to the low population, Hirimaradhoo residents have been requesting that they be moved to another island for a number of years now. President Muizzu declared in February 2025 that they will be moved to Hanimaadhoo.
Since the government has decided on the move, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been handed the responsibility of establishing housing and municipal services for the moving residents.
President Muizzu stated that families with plots in Hirimaradhoo will receive a house in Hanimaadhoo, with them being handed the keys to the house within 18 months. However, the decision to move would be optional, as per the President.
