Police investigate TikTok post claiming child was 'for sale'

Police have launched investigations into an incident where a user on social media platform TikTok shared a photo of a 13 year old girl and claimed she was 'for sale'.

Police said that they received reports of the incident on Saturday night. 

The report was of an individual sharing photos of the child on a TikTok live and making obscene comments about her. 

Police said that the accused had been detained, and later released. 

The accused's phone has also been seized by Police for purposes of the investigation. 

The individual shared photos of the girl on TikTok on Friday and claimed she was up for sale. It has been reported that the individual did this after a disagreement with the child's mother. 

The child's mother has since said that in addition to the Police, the matter has been reported to the Ministry of Social and Family Development.
