The government has opened applications for financial assistance to registered private media outlets under the State Financial Assistance policy.
In an announcement today, Ministry of Youth said registered private newspapers, magazines and licensed broadcasters are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted from tomorrow until September 27 through an online portal designated for the process.
The regulation on providing financial assistance to media outlets was first announced on August 19. The initiative is part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to support private media, with this year’s state budget allocating funds equivalent to 0.1 percent of projected revenue.
Financial support will only be granted to outlets that meet set requirements and achieve the minimum score under the criteria established in the rule.
