President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said today that he will review the case of PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah, following controversial remarks Falah made in Parliament suggesting journalists should be impaled.
The President made the comments after meeting with the Maldives Journalists Association (MJA) and senior journalists. As he left the meeting, he was approached by protesters, most of them journalists, who have been protesting outside the President's Palace since morning.

Pressed repeatedly by reporters about Falah’s remarks during yesterday’s parliament debate, President Muizzu responded, “That cannot be said,” and added that he would look into the matter when asked whether action would be taken.
Maldives Journalists Association (MJA) has filed a police complaint against MP Ibrahim Falah, accusing him of inciting harassment and violence against journalists. During a recent parliament sitting, Falah defended the Media Regulatory Bill but lashed out at the media, claiming they spread false rumors alleging he is a "homosexual" which affected his personal life, and repeatedly saying journalists should be impaled for such actions.
Notably, the comments appear to refer to posts made on social media rather than coverage published by official media outlets.
