National Award for Engineers to be launched next year

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that from next year onwards National Award for Engineers will be presented in recognition of their services to the nation. 

August 30 was decided as National Engineers Day as today marks the inauguration of Maldives' largest infrastructure project, the SinaMale' Bridge. 

This is the first year that National Engineers Day is being marked in the Maldives. In the President's official address, he recognized the major improvements that the SinaMale' Bridge has brought to the lives of Maldivians over the past seven years. 

The President emphasized the critical role that engineers from diverse fields will play in advancing the Maldives toward its 2040 goal of becoming a developed nation, building a digital economy, and achieving renewable energy milestones.

In addition to the introduction of National Awards for engineers, the President also said that the government aims to facilitate academic research and expand educational opportunities in the engineering sector.
