President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has praised the bond that China and Maldives shares after receiving their warm hospitality at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held at Tianjin.
After meeting President of China Xi Jinping, President Muizzu wrote on social media stating that they had a productive conversation on the avenues they can utilize to further strengthen their ties. As per President Muizzu, the bond that Maldives and China has is one built on good intentions.
"In that spirit, we renewed our pledge to work together in the years to come," said President Muizzu on social media.
President Muizzu has said that he believes the "China Maldives Cooperative Partnership (2024-2028)" is a strategic plan that will build cooperation between the two nations, strengthening the bond between the two day by day.
President Muizzu arrived in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit yesterday.
As per the President's Office, President Muizzu is making the trip upon President Xi's invitation, where he will meet with President Xi and various national leaders as well.
As reported by Chinese media, President Muizzu is one of 26 national leaders who will be attending the SCO. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Russia Vladimir Putin will also be attending.
