Five Members of Parliament who have not submitted their financial statements, as required by parliamentary rules, have been issued a 15-day notice to comply.

The deadline for submitting these statements was in August. However, five MPs failed to meet the deadline: Ismail Nizar (PNC), Ahmed Zameer (Machhangoalhi Central), Musthafa Ibrahim (Mafannu West), Mohamed Shaheen (Kurendhoo), and Mohamed Nazim (MNP).

Parliament’s Information Officer, Ahmed Maan Assad, confirmed to Mihaqru News that the Secretary General sent official notices to the members on Monday, reminding them to submit their statements within 15 days.

Under Rule 77 of the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, any member who does not submit their financial statement within the required timeframe must first be issued a written notice. If the member still fails to comply after this notice period, the Speaker is required to publicly announce their name and remove them from participating in parliamentary sessions.

Members who are removed under this rule can only return to Parliament after submitting their financial statements. In addition, their daily pay will be deducted for each day the statement remains outstanding.
