Addu's midnight electricity outage last night has been attributed to an individual who attempted to cut a power cable, as per Addu City Council.
Hithadhoo Member Ibrahim Shinaz told Mihaaru News that Fenaka informed the council that a large part of Addu experienced a power outage last night due to an individual attempting to cut a Feydhoo power cable. The attempt has been ruled as a robbery gone wrong.
Shinaz also said that the individual is currently receiving treatment due to being electrocuted.
Shinaz stated that the individual split their head open along with suffering extensive burns. No other information is available at this time.
A Feydhoo Health Center official, Mohamed Athif told Mihaaru News that the individual was first brought to their health center but was later taken to Addu Equatorial Hospital due power outage in the center.
Equatorial Hospital has been unavailable for comment regarding this incident.
Shinaz stated that electricity was restored after about four hours. However, some parts of Addu regained electricity after an hour, he said.
