Today, Male' City Council has said that the Galolhu City Park, a place where people can go to relax and do recreational activities will be done and developed by next month's end.

City Park was closed for development in 2022. Even though the council planned on starting development that year, no work had proceeded at the time.

Haiman Construction Pvt Ltd was handed the project in April 2025.

Male' City Council stated that 65 percent of the work has been completed in Phase 2 of the project, with Phase 2 of the concrete pouring stage having been completed already.

The council also said that work on the park is set to be finished by the end of October.

The park will have a badminton court and a 3-on-3 basketball court in its sports area. A parking zone with 102 motorbike slots will also be available for use at the ground level of the sports area, with two commercial slots available as well.

While the council has been working on city park, previous administrations have also done some work on the park.

In celebration of Maldives' 50th Independence Day in 2015, the administration at the time had made an "LED Park" with a cost of MVR 1 million. The park had trees that lit up in various colors for the occasion. However, the lights ended up breaking that very day due to poor maintenance.
