Development Plan contracted to Nexia for MVR 17.9 million

Ministry of Finance and Planning has revealed that the drafting of the 20-year National Development Plan was contracted to Nexia Maldives for MVR 17.9 million. 

Procurement details published on the ministry's website show that three parties applied to develop the plan. In addition to Nexia Maldives, which received the highest score, this includes Riyan Pvt Ltd and CDE Pvt Ltd. 

These two companies received a lower score than Nexia in the technical area. 

The project was hence awarded to Nexia Maldives on June 25 for MVR 17.9 million, to be completed within a year. 

The company has now commenced visits to all inhabited islands for consultation regarding the plan. The target is to complete the visits by the end of the calendar year. 

The National Development Plan's Public Relations team held a press briefing yesterday, where project lead Mohamed Nafeez announced that the plan will be launched around the end of January next year. 

Nafeez said that public opinion will be sought via various platforms. Related meetings will be held in the coming days, he said. 

Creating a 20-year National Development Plan is amongst President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's presidential pledges. He has also announced that legal amendments will be introduced to give the plan statutory backing. Under this, a monitoring framework, financial plan and implementation framework will be set up.
