Former Minister of Sports Ahmed Mahloof left MDP today.
Mahloof decided to leave MDP today and had sent a letter to MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail. He stated in the letter that he was grateful for getting the opportunity to serve the party since 2015.
He has also expressed elation at the opportunity to work for former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the developments that were made during that time, and for his work done in the cabinet.
He has also expressed his thanks to members of MDP. He has not given any reason for his leaving the party. As of late, he has not been in any MDP activities.
Mahloof joined MDP after leaving PPM during former President Yameen's administration over differences of opinion. At the time, he was a PPM Parliament member.
Mahloof had begun his political career within former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's DRP and has not yet announced his political future. His current work has been encompassing sports as of late.
