Operation launched over evidence tampering in terrorism case

Police have launched an operation in Male' this morning in connection with a terrorism case dating back to 2020.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the operation is related to allegations of attempts to influence witnesses in an ongoing trial.

No further details were disclosed.

However, Mihaaru News has learned that the case involves a man arrested five years ago in Thaa Atoll Thimarafushi on charges of attempting to carry out an explosion at Thimarafushi School in late 2020.

Authorities suspect he has recently tried to influence evidence in the trial.

The operation has been ongoing since this morning across multiple locations in Male'.
