The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has re-announced that they are seeking a helicopter service provider.
The ministry made the announcement last August. However, they made the announcement once again yesterday.
The announcement also details the services that are to be provided under the helicopter service:
- Air ambulance services
- Aiding in search-and-rescue operations for all of Maldives
- Transport of passengers for the tourism industry on a business basis
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation stated that the company that is chosen will need to conduct air travel for tourism passengers for 10 years. The announcement from the ministry also states that that particular service will be exclusively granted to the selected party for that timeframe.
The deadline for the Request for Proposal (RFP) is 25th December.
A Dash 8 aircraft and seaplane were introduced in Maldives this year as air ambulances for the purposes of airlifting medical patients in emergency situations.
Once the Indian military personnel stationed in Maldives to operate the Dornier aircraft and two helicopters gifted to Maldives by India were sent back, civilian experts from the country have been operating these aircraft since last year.
