The body of a man who passed away while receiving treatment abroad for severe burns sustained in a fire at the STELCO power plant in Hulhumale' last month is to be brought back to Maldives.
Ahmed Azmeel, 43, a supervisor at STELCO, passed away on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bangkok. He had suffered critical burn injuries in the power plant fire.
A STELCO media official told Mihaaru News that the decision to bring back Azmeel’s body was made at the request of his family.
The company is making the necessary arrangements to return his remains to the Maldives.
According to the official, Azmeel’s body is expected to arrive in Male' on Monday or Tuesday.
Azmeel is survived by his wife and two children. His wife is currently pregnant with their third child.
