The death toll from the shooting at Bondi Beach has risen to 15, Australian authorities confirmed. The attack occurred during celebrations marking the Jewish religious festival of Hanukkah.
According to media reports, the attackers were a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old son. The father was killed during the incident, while his son sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
Authorities said a 10 year old girl was among those killed, making her the youngest victim of the attack. The oldest victim was 87 years old. A total of 42 people were injured and are currently receiving treatment, including two police officers.
During the attack, an unarmed civilian reportedly followed the 50-year-old attacker, tackled him to the ground and seized his weapon. Media reports said the courageous act was carried out by a Muslim individual, who was also shot and injured in the process.
