Two Democrats members from council rejoined with MDP

Two members from The Democrats who are a part of the Male' City Council, Saif Fathih and Mariyam Nazima Mohamed Faiz, have rejoined MDP.

When they re-signed with MDP, the councilors were elected under MDP's ticket. Nevertheless, they both left the party in 2023 over differences of opinion.

Upon leaving, Saif and Nazima joined The Democrats while former President Mohamed Nasheed had formed the party and held a key position there. Saif was a driving force behind the party's activities. He also ran for Mayor of Male' under The Democrats ticket.

As Nasheed left The Democrats and went back to MDP, The Democrats are currently at a standstill.

All other senior position holders at The Democrats have rejoined MDP as well. Ali Azim is currently running for re-election as Mayor of Male' on the MDP ticket.
