The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) officially launched a digital platform named "Daala" today to digitize the reporting and statistical management of damages caused by disasters.
The platform was inaugurated at a ceremony by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusan.
According to the NDMA, the "Daala" platform is a national digital platform designed to digitize the reporting of disaster-related damages, prepare disaster-related reports, and strengthen evidence-based decision-making systems.

Key benefits of "Daala":
- While assessing disaster damages has been a manual process until now, the new platform will transition this into a secure and interconnected digital system.
- Disaster information can be reported online to the relevant institutions.
- Calculations of the damages incurred will be prepared automatically.
- The accuracy of damage assessments will increase and become faster.
- The system has the capability to collect individual data based on the type of disaster, reported sectors, regions, population demographics, and types of property.
- It facilitates deep identification of disaster impacts, allowing for targeted measures in areas requiring assistance, improved planning, and the implementation of recovery efforts with fairness.

Regarding the platform, NDMA CEO Hisan Hassan stated that it is not just a digital system, but a platform that symbolizes trust in the government's "Digital Maldives 2.0" policy.
According to the NDMA, the work to design the Daala platform was carried out through the UNDP Funding Window with the assistance of the governments of Denmark, Luxembourg, and South Korea.
