Shaheed Ali School enrolls over 2000 students, 77 percent from atolls

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu has stated that over 2,000 students have been enrolled at the newly opened Shaheed Ali School, most of whom are students from across the atolls. 

Speaking at the ceremony held this morning to inaugurate the new school in Hulhumale' Phase 2, Minister Shafeeu said that as of yesterday, slots have been granted to 1,950 students who requested transfer to Shaheed Ali School. Sessions have started today with a total of 2,100 students enrolled, he said.

Shaheed Ali School has the second-largest student enrollment among Male' schools, while Huravee School in Hulhumale' tops the list with 2,200 students. 

"Of these 2,100 students, 77 students come from islands across the atolls. So I would like to highlight that although this school is in the Male' area, although it has been opened in Hulhumale' Phase 2, this school is inclusive of all islands in the Maldives," Minister Shafeeu stated.

The school conducts lessons in two sessions. 

Shaheed Ali School, the first school developed by this administration in the Male' region, is also presently the most modern educational facility in the country. 

Work on developing the school was officially inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in December 2023. The project was contracted to RCC on June 27, 2021.
