Quran to be added to SSC exam subjects from next year

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu has announced that Quran will be taught amongst O' Level SSC exam subjects, with exams to be conducted from next year onwards.

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu has announced that Quran will be taught amongst O' Level SSC exam subjects, with exams to be conducted from next year onwards. 

In his address today at the start of the new academic year, the Minister said that the highest priority is being placed on instilling good discipline in students. 

The Minister announced that a special programme will be introduced this year to promote good discipline, foster positive character development, and encourage mutual respect among students. 

He announced that Quran is being included in the SSC examinations this year as a pilot programme. 

The minister said that Quran will be officially included in the SSC exams from 2027 onwards. 

 

Recognizing the growing prominence of Artificial Intelligence tools in the workplace, the minister announced that special programmes will be conducted this year to help teachers adapt to and effectively use AI tools. 

Minister Shafeeu advised students to take personal responsibility for their education. He further urged them to maintain their love for Islam, respect and obey their parents, and to respect their peers. He also called on them to love and respect their teachers, and to make the best possible use of their educational opportunities.
