Voting for the Adhaalath Party presidential election is currently underway online.
The party announced that the voting process began at 9:00 AM this morning. Conducted via the "Fahi Vote" online application, the election is scheduled to continue until 6:00 PM this evening.
Two candidates applied for the position of Adhaalath Party President: Dr. Ikram Abdussattar and the party's current Vice President, Sheikh Mohamed Shifan. However, Dr. Ikram decided to boycott the election following the decision to conduct the voting online.
There has been internal disagreement within the party regarding the voting method. Dr. Ikram had requested both the party and the Elections Commission to place physical ballot boxes instead of holding the vote online.

However, the party stated that its election regulations do not allow for the placement of physical ballot boxes. Dr. Ikram claimed that while the Elections Commission had instructed the party to conduct the election affairs transparently, the party had shown rigidity and ignored these instructions.
Dr. Ikram stated that he decided not to compete in the election because "they have stubbornly decided to proceed with the election by abandoning the beautiful principle of consultation and straying from the path of reason."
Dr. Ikram is a Senior Lecturer at the Islamic University of Maldives, having completed his first degree, Master’s, and PhD in Shariah and Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia.
The other candidate for the presidency, Shifan, obtained his degree in Shariah from the Islamic University of Madinah. Additionally, he has achieved a Master’s in Business Administration from the Maldives Business School.
