Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has launched a special campaign to celebrate its 25th Silver Jubilee.
The campaign, called “Sea to Silver Shores”, was unveiled by HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair at a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters.
A special logo was introduced, and a video presentation traced the history of HDC alongside the development of Hulhumale' over the past 25 years.
Speaking at the event, Zuhair said the corporation had achieved significant milestones in a relatively short period. “It is a great honor to celebrate a silver jubilee. We can only imagine how much Hulhumale' itself has developed in 25 years,” he said.
HDC said the campaign is open to public participation.
The Hulhumale' Project was originally launched in 1997 by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to address the housing shortage in Male', with the first phase inaugurated on 16 October 1997.
After reclamation of the first phase, residents began moving to the island on 12 May 2004. A dedicated company was established in 2001 to manage Hulhumale's development, which later evolved into the HDC.
