More than 26,700 tuna can cases distributed in Male'

According to the lunar calendar, Ramadan is expected to begin on 18 February this year.

More than 26,700 cases of canned tuna have been distributed in Male' as part of the government’s annual Ramadan gift programme.

Minister of local governance Adam Shareef Umar said that 26,739 cases had been issued in the capital as of last night. under a nationwide effort to provide one case of canned tuna to every household in Maldives.

He said distribution of the Ramadan gifts is expected to be completed by 11 February.

Tuna can cases are being issued daily, except on Fridays, between 8.30 pm and 11 pm.

As in previous years, each household is entitled to one case containing 48 cans of tuna.

Outside the capital, tuna can cases are being distributed through respective island councils. The government said tuna can case have now been delivered to all islands.
