Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has said it has resolved a sewage leak from pipeline junctions at the Fahi flats in Hulhumale', following complaints from residents.

The leaks were reported over the past week at junctions outside towers 11, 12, 15 and 16 of the housing complex. Residents in the area raised concerns with the corporation after sewage began seeping onto surrounding roads.

FDC managing director Hamdhan Shakeel told Mihaaru News that the issue was caused by a net left wrapped around a junction when the project was handed over by the contractor. He said the obstruction was removed and the problem was resolved on Sunday afternoon.

Fahi flats project comprises around 4,000 apartments built by two Indian companies. Leaks were reported despite the area being only partially occupied, with many of the apartments handed over since late last year still vacant.

Photos and videos obtained by Mihaaru News showed sewage flowing as far as a bus stop near Tower 16, while water pooling was also observed near other towers as a result of the leakage.
