Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has said that there are only 200 flats to be handed over from Hulhumale', which have been held upon the request of the flat owners to be given at a later date.
FDC's Managing Director Hamdhan Shakeel told Mihaaru News that all the flats that have been scheduled for handover have been given to their respectful owners. However, 200 of those flats have been held upon the request of the flat owners.
"These are flats that have not been handed over due to the owners being abroad for Umrah and for various other reasons. They requested the flats be handed over at a later date. The flats that have been scheduled to be handed over have already been given to their respectful owners," said Hamdhan.
The project began during the previous administration and was awarded to two Indian companies, with two-room flats and three-room flats having been constructed. Along with the maintenance fee, the two-room flats were to be rented for MVR 8,000 per month with a down payment of MVR 15,000. The three-room flats were to be rented for MVR 10,500 per month with a down payment of MVR 25,000.
However, with the reduction changes that have been announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu upon concerns having been raised by the public over high rent and security deposit fees, Minister Muththalib announced that along with the maintenance fee, the two-room flats are to be rented for MVR 7,000 per month, with a security deposit of MVR 6,000.
Minister Muththalib also announced that along with the maintenance fee, the three-room flats are to be rented for MVR 10,000 per month, with a security deposit of MVR 8,500.
Many of the flats are currently inhabited by their owners.
