An artist from the famous boduberu group "Habeys" has been dismissed following allegations of obtaining dollars through fraudulent means.

In a press release issued today announcing the dismissal of Habeys’ Ayaz Mohamed, the group stated that they would never encourage any individual to engage in such illegal acts at any time.

The statement noted that as these actions are of a nature that could tarnish the group's reputation, they spoke with Ayaz as soon as the allegations began circulating on social media. Following the group’s code of conduct, he was initially advised and given an additional opportunity.

However, since the behavior was repeated, the band stated that they have distanced him from all Habeys activities.

Habeys added that upon conducting an administrative review of the situation and confirming that an investigation into the matter is ongoing, the management board decided that Ayaz will no longer be a member of the group from today onwards, pending a court decision under the criminal justice system.

Established 14 years ago in 2011, Habeys Boduberu is one of the most successful boduberu groups in the Maldives and a leading name in modern boduberu. The group, which has frequently represented the Maldives abroad, also established its own recording studio in 2013.

Additionally, the first-ever boduberu album in the Maldives, "Jinni," was a production of the group.
