Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef stated last night that there is no benefit in fostering anger and hate in a country with a small population, and to move forward by appointing candidates from the People's National Congress (PNC).
While speaking at the opening ceremony of PNC's Maafannu campaign hub for the Local Council Election, the VP said that accountability must be held via the party system and that it is a fundamental right.
However, he also said that it must be done in a proper, competitive manner, and if not done as such, at times the government in office may forget what they were appointed to do and redirect themselves.
VP Hussain went on to say that in speaking to the public in holding accountability, it should be done mindfully or else it may foster jealousy, hate and anger.

The VP stated that the government wants to put what happened in early 2008 behind them and to build a pleasant social fabric.
"This is a small population. There is no benefit in fostering anger and hate in such a small population. Our social fabric operates through jealousy and anger," said the Vice President.
VP Hussain has requested PNC councilors be appointed so that policies that can bring about positive changes to the coming generation can be enforced.
He also said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's work has been arranged as such that it is like looking through a clear pane of glass, as to the direction that is to be headed.

The VP stated they are working to improve the fabric of society by creating legal guidelines and regulations. VP Hussain continued by saying that this work was also being done by President Muizzu when he was Mayor of Male', and that cooperation can be given by the city council in moving forward.
The city council currently has a PNC majority.
However, the VP said that the council has not been cooperative in recent times.
VP Hussain went on to say that flooding occurs in Maafannu when it rains and that it causes quite a bit of distress. He said that the Male' City Council can offer the most cooperation in solving such a problem and if it can be done alongside the President, a major solution can be found.
