President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm greetings to the President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on the occasion of the country’s 78th Independence Day.

In his address to President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya, Dr Muizzu praised Sri Lanka’s resilience in pursuing economic stability, social harmony and national progress.

He highlighted the long-standing friendship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, noting decades of cooperation and shared regional priorities.

President Muizzu expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to grow in areas of mutual interest, including trade, development and regional stability. He also conveyed personal wishes for the good health of both leaders and for the continued peace and prosperity of the Sri Lankan people.

In a post on X, the President described Sri Lanka as one of the Maldives’ closest and most trustworthy friends, and wished the nation enduring unity and resolve.
