A Chinese company was contracted today to construct a new 13-story building within the premises of ADK Hospital.

In a social media post regarding the fourth phase of the hospital's development, ADK stated that the project was awarded to China's Rotime Engineering and Technology Co. Ltd.

The agreement was signed by ADK’s Chairman, Ahmed Nashid, and Rotime's Managing Director, Zhou Weidong.

The Chinese firm is currently also engaged in the development of several roads in Hulhumalé.

ADK noted that the new 13-story building will increase capacity and provide further momentum to their efforts in delivering high-quality healthcare services.

According to information previously provided by the Ministry of Health following a request by "Mihaaru News" under the Right to Information Act, the land where the former Central Hospital stood was leased to ADK for 50 years, effective from October 2, 1995. This lease is set to expire in 2045.

Chairman Nashid has previously stated that ADK Hospital pays MVR 8.2 million annually as rent.
