Local Government Minister and PNC's Vice President Adam Shareef has stated that having councilors who can easily call those who operate the government and have discussions will see ease in the development of an island.

He said this during the Hithadhoo campaign launch to the PNC candidates of Addu who will be running in the Local Council Election and the Women's Development Committee Election.

Adam Shareef said that islands can only be developed with the government and by the government cooperating with councils.

He also said that while looking at how democracy works in Maldives, electing those who would not work with the government will halt development projects.

"We have experienced this in the last 15 or so years. Looking at these experiences, what I believe the most is it is our responsibility to elect PNC candidates who will work with the government so that the services that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu wants to give to the citizens can be provided, and so that his pledges can be fulfilled," said the minister.

According to Adam Shareef, President Muizzu requests that councils expedite the provision of services to citizens.

Adam Shareef also said that as there are councilors from the Addu City Council who have a difference of opinion from the government, the development of the city has not progressed.

He went on to say that in order to change that, if PNC candidates are given the vote at the Local Council Election, the development of Addu will hasten.

Adam Shareef stated that 4th April is the day of opportunity for Addu citizens to change that.
