The Civil Court yesterday ordered "Beond," the world's first premium leisure airline, to pay USD 16,000 (MVR 246,000) as a refund for six tickets purchased and later cancelled by an Italian national.
The Italian individual filed the lawsuit in Civil Court against Beond-SIMDI Operation, the company operating Beond airline in the Maldives, because the refund for the six cancelled tickets was not provided in accordance with the company's refund policy.
In the lawsuit, the individual requested the court to recover USD 14,000 as the ticket refund and USD 2,160 as the expenses incurred for the legal proceedings.
Beond-SIMDI Operation did not submit any response to the lawsuit in court. Furthermore, the company did not attend the court proceedings.
As a result, the Civil Court ruled yesterday in the company's absence that, based on the documents submitted, it is proven that the money sought by the Italian national is owed by Beond.
Therefore, the Civil Court ordered the company to pay and settle the full amount within seven days.
