Father arrested for physical abuse of child

A 39 year old man has been arrested from Male' for physical abuse of his child. 

The Criminal Court yesterday placed him in remand in custody for 15 days. 

The Court ruled to hold him in custody as it had received some evidence to support the charges against him. The child's mother has also given a statement to Police about the incident. 

The court ruled to hold him in custody stating he could be a danger to society. He has a prior criminal record for various offences. 

The man, however, denied in court that he had physically abused his child.
