Two arrested for grooming and sexually abusing a child

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of grooming, exploiting, and sexually abusing a minor.

According to the police, the individuals arrested in this case are 21-year-old Mohamed Ihusan of Kasthoorige and 44-year-old Ali Hassan of Silvastar, both from HDh. Kulhudhuffushi.

The police stated today that the two men were arrested during a joint operation conducted by Family and Child Protection, Crime Intelligence, and a regional police station. According to the police, Ali Hassan was arrested on December 24 of last year, and his detention period is set to expire on the first of next month.

Ihusan was arrested on the third of this month, and his detention period will expire on the sixth of next month.

The police also noted that the victim who was groomed, exploited, and sexually abused in this case is a 15-year-old girl.

They further stated that priority will be given to taking action against those who involve children in drugs, gang crimes, and acts of sexual abuse by grooming them or taking advantage of their vulnerable situations.

It was also mentioned that efforts are being made in collaboration with relevant agencies to identify perpetrators of such acts and to ensure they receive the harshest punishment possible under the law.
