President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Male' today after concluding his official visit to Germany. His visit was conducted at the official invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
During the official talks held during this visit, the two Presidents primarily focused on the relationship between the two countries in international arenas and further expanding and strengthening ties through high-level discussions and official agreements on matters of mutual interest.
Information regarding opportunities available for German companies in the Maldives was shared at the Maldives-Germany Business Round-table held during this trip. Speaking at this round-table, the President highlighted the government's economic policies and invited companies from that country to invest in the Maldives at this time when the Maldivian economy is diversifying and economic opportunities are expanding.
During this round-table, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Visit Maldives and DERTOUR Deutschland GmbH, one of Europe's leading travel and tourism groups, regarding cooperation in destination promotion and marketing.
During the trip, the President visited the Humboldt University of Berlin and delivered a special speech focusing on the Maldives' experiences in climate change resilience.
Additionally, he delivered a speech at the German Council on Foreign Relations, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP), regarding the role of oceans in foreign policy.
During this visit, the President participated in an official banquet held in the country to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany. While some Maldivians residing in Germany also participated in this banquet, the President met separately with the Maldivian citizens who attended the function.
