Religious scholar Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim (Naifary) has been hospitalized at Tree Top Hospital after his health deteriorated while visiting Male' to deliver a sermon.

'Ehee' organization, which manages sourcing donations for Sheikh Ibrahim's healthcare, said that the Sheikh had been admitted at Tree Top Hospital today due to high fever and other worsening symptoms while in Male'. They said that he is under observation and receiving treatment at the hospital.

"As there are some serious conditions involved, the doctor said that some tests will be done. We request for prayers and well wishes from all," the association said.

Sheikh Ibrahim travelled to Male' to deliver a sermon at an event last Friday titled 'Kalaku vey, Biruvethi vey" [There is a god, be fearful], organized by HDC and Al Asr. The event, held in Hulhumale', attracted large crowds.

The 'Ehee' organization previously appealed for financial assistance from the public to cover treatment for vision issues that Sheikh Ibrahim suffers from. They sought donations of MVR 308,400, which was reached in less than 24 hours.

Sheikh Ibrahim has been suffering from a prolonged illness spanning over several years. He has lost sight in both eyes, which led to him being unable to work during recent years. On doctors' advice, the Sheikh underwent eye surgeries in 2019 and 2023, despite which he hasn't regained eyesight.

Through public aid, Sheikh Ibrahim travelled to Thailand and consulted doctors in three hospitals. According to 'Ehee' organization, all three hospitals were of the opinion that he cannot undergo any further eye surgeries. They instead prescribed medication to maintain his eyes at its current condition.

Sheikh Ibrahim stayed in Thailand for about a month, during which time he also consulted doctors for kidney and heart ailments.

Sheikh Ibrahim, who pursued studies in Medinah, has penned several religious books, popular amongst which are titles such as 'Hisnul Muslim', 'Kithaab-ah-siyam' and 'Kithaab-ah-salat'.
