Ambulances sent to 56 islands

The government also plans to dispatch additional ambulances to 31 more islands this year, along with 10 paramedic ambulances for use in Male' City and other urban areas.

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has delivered ambulances to hospitals and health centres on 56 islands across the atolls.

The company was awarded the contract last year to procure and distribute the vehicles under a Health Ministry programme aimed at strengthening emergency medical services nationwide.

MPL said deliveries began on the 17th of last month and were completed on the 14th of this month.

In addition to handing over the vehicles, MPL’s mechanical team provided technical guidance to hospital and health centre staff on the operation, repair and maintenance of the ambulances.
