Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan has accused former State Minister of Housing in the MDP administration, Akram Kamaluddeen, and MDP Deputy Chairperson Ibrahim Waheed, of recording a video of his wife and child, later sharing it on social media.
Sharing CCTV footage to support his accusation, Ihusan stated that the two had taken a video of his wife and 10 year old daughter while they had been walking down a street yesterday evening.
The video was later shared on social media by an anonymous account, Ihusan said.
Ihusan said that this is a shameful act from people who claim to be champions of democracy, women's empowerment and children's rights. He accused MDP of having continuously engaged in such disrespectful behaviour and divisive politics.
The CCTV footage shared by Ihusan shows Ibrahim Waheed standing on a pavement, while another person sits on a motorcycle near him. Akram joins them after a while. The three engage in conversation, with Waheed taking his phone out of his pocket. Akram then hands over his phone, and it appears a video is being recorded from it. What they are shooting is not seen in the footage.
An anonymous account shared the footage of Ihusan's wife and child, criticizing the family and saying that they are accompanied by bodyguards while out.
