President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established a special Cabinet committee in response to the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The committee, formed on Saturday afternoon, comprises:

  • Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel (committee chair)
  • Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon
  • Finance and Planning Minister Moosa Zameer
  • Economic Development and Trade Minister Mohamed Saeed
  • Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Ameen
  • Homeland Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihusaan
  • Tourism and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim
  • Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Minister Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed
  • Islamic Affairs Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed

In a post on X on Saturday night, President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed said the committee was established to implement coordinated measures to address any difficulties Maldivians may face in light of the situation.

She added that the relevant ministries would continue to share updates and all pertinent information with the public.
