President to begin Monday press briefings tomorrow

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will be holding a press briefing on Monday morning. 

President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed announced that President Muizzu will be meeting the press at 10am tomorrow. 

In this year's Presidential Address, President Muizzu announced that he will hold press briefings and respond to media queries every Monday from March onwards. 

He said then that he plans to deepen engagement with the media by personally taking part in more press briefings. 

President Muizzu announced that he will host a press briefing every Monday from 10 to 11am, except when official travel or other unavoidable duties prevent it. 

He further stated that every cabinet minister will also hold a weekly hour-long press briefing. 

The President highlighted the vital role of responsible media in upholding peace and stability and in informing the public about development. He said citizens have the right to established media that delivers factual reporting, guided by the 5 Ws, in line with Islamic principles. 

The President affirmed the government's commitment to upholding this right, noting that for the first time, funding has been allocated to media through the State budget.
