Minister of Housing Dr. Abdulla Muththalib stated that including forms currently in draft, 18,036 people have applied for flats and land plots.
During a press conference held at the President's Office today, the Minister revealed the figures for those who have applied for flats and land plots.
The form figures:
- 2,513 forms have been submitted requesting land; 2,851 forms are in draft.
- 3,396 forms have been submitted requesting flats; 8,466 forms are in draft.
- 953 forms have been submitted for the special category for people who received documents confirming they would get flats from the "Veshi-fahi Malé" and "Hiyaa" projects but never received them; 220 forms are in draft.
Under the "Ailee Boahiyavahikan" program opened on January 18, 7,900 flats and a total of 15,000 land plots of 1,250 square feet were issued. The opportunity to apply for flats was previously granted until April 17, and the opportunity to apply for land plots was granted until the 4th of next month.
However, that period has now been extended until the 30th of next month.
The government has determined to allocate 4,000 flats for the native residents of Malé, 1,500 flats for people from other islands living in Malé, and 2,400 flats for special categories.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that it has been decided to issue 25,000 land plots from Rasmalé, which is currently being reclaimed to provide a solution for housing.
However, 15,000 land plots will be issued from there in the first round.
