Maldives Zakat House has revealed that MVR 5.5 million was received as Fitr Zakat in the first half of Ramadan.
According to Zakat House, a total of MVR 5,482,171 was received as Fitr Zakat in the first 15 days.
This marks a 23 percent increase compared to the amount received in the same period last year, where the amount stood at MVR 4,460,199.
This year, Zakat House has facilitated the online payment of zakat through seven platforms.
Online platforms for paying Fitr Zakat
- Dhiraagu mobile app and DhiraaguPay
- Ooredoo mFaisaa mobile app
- Maldives Islamic Bank mobile app
- Bank of Maldives mobile app
- FahiPay mobile app
- Avas mobile app
- Bandeyri Pay website
FahiPay and Bandeyri Pay will be accepting Zakat payments until the last day of Ramadan.
Fitr Zakat can be paid through the other apps until 6am on Ramadan 27.
Those unfamiliar with online payment platforms also have the option of visiting the Islamic Centre in person and paying Fitr Zakat through cash or cash cards.
