The second phase of the G.Dh. Madaveli land reclamation and shore protection project has been awarded to MTCC for MVR 174 million.

At a ceremony held at the Housing Ministry this afternoon, the agreement was signed by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC’s Managing Director Ahmed Saudi.

MTCC stated that 19.17 hectares of land will be reclaimed under this project.

Additionally, the work will include the installation of 1,645 meters of revetment and the construction of groynes in a 120-meter area. The project was awarded for MVR 174.58 million, with a completion target of 400 days.

MTCC noted that Madaveli, which has a population of approximately 2,000 people, has long faced housing difficulties and that with the land reclamation project, the island's land area will increase, providing an effective solution to the housing issue.

The company also stated that the shore protection project will bring a significant solution to the problems of tidal swells and island erosion.
