For the first time in the Maldives, a hysteroscopic myomectomy surgery has been successfully performed at Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.

This surgery is a procedure where fibroids are removed from the uterus using a camera inserted through the frontal passage, making it a minimally invasive surgery that requires very little cutting.

Ungoofaaru Hospital stated that the procedure was carried out by gynecologist Dr. Talha. The hospital noted that this is an advancement achieved in progressing minimally invasive gynecological treatment in the Maldives.

According to the hospital, with this success, modern hysteroscopic services will be available at the hospital. These include services for removing polyps, fibroids, and septums.

Additionally, infertility assessment services will also now be available at the hospital.
