Police have just confirmed that the body found afloat in the swimming track in Hithadhoo, Addu, on Friday morning is that of an Australian who had been working in the Maldives.
Police received reports of the body being found at 4:41pm on Friday.
After a public appeal for help in identifying the deceased, Police have now confirmed the identity as Daniel Di Giovine, an Australian citizen who holds a Maldivian work permit.
Police said that they have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the 60 year old.
No further details have been disclosed as of yet.
