26 more named Imam, permission to conduct Friday prayers

The Islamic Ministry has given permission to an additional 26 youth to conduct sermons and lead Friday prayers.

Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed stated today during the graduation ceremony for the youth Khatib training that 26 Khatibs had been certified.

The training program teaches trainees how to conduct sermons, lead Friday prayers and other training aspects as well.

The program was made specifically for those who are studying in the 10th Grade, students in A level grades and youth who have finished school.

As per the booklet that was released by the ministry which detailed their efforts, 270 youth had been trained to deliver sermons and lead Friday prayers over three rounds of training programs.

The government aims to train 1,000 Khatibs within the current term.

The Islamic Minister has stated before that they are confident they can achieve it.
